My idea is to keep with the seasons. Spring was light and funny; Fall should be about turning leaves. What about a pivotal/life changing moment in your life? Just an idea.
Just a few ideas or prompts for essays might include, How to Effectively Welcome Back Soldiers from War, State of the World Today, Effect of Social Networking Sites on Relationships, The True Definition of a Hero, What Major Advances or Inventions Will Change Our Lives in the Near and Distant Future, Do You Think Space Travel is the Sign of Future Expansion. These ideas can be boiled down to a couple of words (i.e. Space Travel, Social Networking Sites, etc.) in order to let the student use his/her imagination.

How about "Falling?" That leaves the writers with a lot to choose from and make for interesting reads.
